CSA Announcement

It’s time to announce that some big changes have been happening around the farm over the last year. After 18 years together, Mike and I split up last year. I have also decided to walk away from my original, rented ¾ acre farm field. It’s been a year of transformation, letting go, and accepting change and uncertainty. It’s been an incredibly difficult time, but also full of growth and new possibility. The farm is a good teacher for this process, as I’ve learned to accept so much that is out of my control, to try to enjoy beauty and ease when it is available, and to strive for equanimity when it isn’t.

For 2023 I’ll be scaling back the farm to just the 1.5 acre field on my own property, right next door. Over the last few months I’ve moved all the farm operations, including vegetable washing, storage, coolers, propagation, workshop space, and my office onto my own property. It’s been a massive and bittersweet undertaking. I’m looking forward to a simplified farm, with everything in one place, fewer employees to hire and manage, and a simpler crop and marketing plan. But it’s hard to walk away from my home and garden of 13 years, and to embrace big changes and uncertainty!

The biggest change to the farm is that I’ve made the decision to discontinue the CSA. I will instead focus on the 2 market booths: the Neskowin Farmers Market and the Lincoln City Hospital. Since I am cutting down my production space, I’m no longer able to produce enough to support both markets and CSA. While CSA is a huge support and I love and rely on my members, it’s also a big responsibility for me. I take it seriously that you pay me hundreds of dollars up front to provide you with abundant, high quality vegetables. I decided that simplifying my management and marketing efforts is the best way to scale the farm to the new level of production.

I’m grateful for all of your support and commitment over the last 12 years of CSA! I hope you will continue to make Corvus Landing produce a feature of your table by shopping at the Neskowin Farmers Market, the Lincoln City Hospital stand, or our online farm stand. I’ll be simplifying the crop mix a bit but continuing to offer a wide range of fresh, delicious veggies and beautiful flowers from May through October. I’ll also continue to grow my full range of veggie starts for your coast garden, available at Trillium starting in late March and at the markets starting in May.

Thank you for so many years of support and CSA together. I hope you will join me in this new chapter of Corvus Landing!

Happy spring,
Carolina
