CSA Flex Full Time
Last year’s part time flex worked so well that we decided to add a full time option. If you want to commit to local, healthy eating but want more choices than the classic CSA, this may be for you. Visit our market stand any 20 times between July and November, no need to schedule. Pick out 6 (half) or 10 (full) items from the stand. Read more.
Market Choice Share
Market Choice is a prepaid market voucher, good at any of our farm stands. Now you can purchase our market choice share in $100 increments, with increasing discounts. Buy more and save more! Support the farm and commit to healthy eating. Read more.
Low Income Half Price shares
We recognize that not everyone who wants to eat healthy food can easily afford it, so we offer up to 10% of our Flex and Classic CSA shares at half price. Half price shares are funded by donations from members and a match from the farm. To donate to our subsidy fund, click here. To request a half price share, use discount code “Subshare50” at checkout. Learn more about low income options: we also accept SNAP.
Farm update:
We’re already hard at work planning and preparing for our tenth season. I’m working on expanding our nursery crops, so the greenhouse is already filling up with perennial ornamentals and landscape plants. We’ve ordered all our seeds and I’ll be sowing the first ones next week: onions on heat in the propagation house, and the first salad and carrots will be sown directly into our greenhouse beds. We bought a new market truck and will be starting to construct a new greenhouse in a couple of weeks. And it’s not even February!
Thank you so much for being a CSA member. We rely on your commitment and early season financial support to make the farm happen year after year. To honor how important that commitment is, we are offering early bird discounts for most shares paid in full before March 1. As always, we prefer check payments so that all of your money goes directly to the farm. Paypal charges us 2.75%, meaning that a full share paid through Paypal costs us $16. But I buy lots of things online and I get how much simpler it is to just use a card, so we no longer charge extra for Paypal transactions.
There’s a few changes in our 2019 CSA: I’m most excited about our new flower bouquet CSA! We started growing flowers in 2018 and I fell in love, so this year we’re giving them more field space to expand our variety of blooms and colors. We’ll be offering weekly bouquets for pickup or home delivery: this is a great opportunity to bring some joy into your life and support a new venture on the farm. All of our flowers will be fresh picked for you and grown without chemicals, leading to great vase life and a safe way to brighten up your home. The flower CSA would also make a great gift!
We’ve also expanded on our flexible options since they were so popular last year. In case you missed it, we started a new share type called “CSA Flex”. Members sign up for 10, 15, or 20 weeks, half or full share. Then you show up to any of our farm stands or market booths and pick out 6 (half) or 10 (full) items from the stand. Come any time between July and November, no need to schedule them: we track how many weeks you’ve used so you don’t have to.
The flex share was a big hit last year, members enjoyed the flexible schedule and having control over what vegetables they got. Many folks said that picking out what to get was like a game, and they loved not getting anything they didn’t want and having the option to double up when they had company. It worked great for the farm too, it was easy for us to add Flex onto usual market schedule, and I enjoyed getting to interact a little more with all the members. This year’s full time flex is priced and timed the same as our classic share, so we’ll be letting members switch mid-season if your original choice isn’t working out for you. And we’re going to trial on online farm stand option, where you can pre-order your share for pick up at the farm with 48 hours notice. This might be a total flop, but I’m going to give it the old college try!
This year’s classic CSA will be very similar to last year. The classic CSA will end a week earlier, and we’ve dropped the price accordingly. We’ve also decided not to bring shares to the Neskowin Farmers Market this year, members who pick up at the market will have the option to pick up at the farm instead. We’re still working out whether or not we’ll be able to offer Tillamook pickup; if you picked up there last year, we’ll get in touch directly once it’s been decided.
I sincerely hope you’ll be back for 2019, it should be another abundant year!
